Adulting is hard enough but being a responsible grownup is made even more difficult when dealing with what many perceive to be a teenage problem, acne. Its just not a look that I can make work.
When I go a few days with a clear complexion I feel like I've won the lottery, usually I am sporting at least one spot. I have tried so many solutions to cure my acne from salicylic washes and topical solutions to spot treatments and drying solutions with marginal success. Most of the time I am left with dry, dull skin and a maybe slightly less pronounced blemish that I can't even cover up with the best makeup.
Recently I discovered acne covers made with hydrocolloid which is used in hospitals to promote healing. The covers literally absorb the nasty stuff from your skin. These guys are chemical free and work overnight to noticeably shrink blemishes while you sleep. They are non-drying and stay put all night. I sometimes get big cystic blemishes on my chin and, although it may take a couple of uses, the acne covers drastically reduce the size of the blemish after one use and reduced healing time from weeks to a matter of days. I have even used the Mighty Patch Surface patches, which are large rectangles, on my nose and chin to see if they would help to absorb blackheads and was pleasantly surprised to find that they did!
Here are a few pics to show just how effective they are:
Definitely not the most glamorous picture of me above but as you can see, I have a couple of really angry blemishes, one on my chin and the other on my forehead. This is before using the acne covers.
So, this picture was taken two days after using the acne covers on my chin and forehead. In just two days a really large, painful cystic blemish has become a much smaller spot that is nearly flat and can be easily disguised with some cover-up.
These are my holy grail acne solution. If you suffer from acne I highly recommend giving them a shot:
Try the Mighty Patch Surface if you have larger problem areas. These are a bit more expensive but they cover a lot of real estate.
Or, these Nexcare Acne Covers are a bit more affordable with two sizes per package. Seriously, add them to auto-ship now because you never know when you'll need them and you will not want to ever run out.
(I have tried other brands too and they work but the above are the most effective ones that I have used)
